This article aims to clarify the impact of various factors on problems of conjugal intimacy by using a representative sample of couples of all ages and all marital durations resident in Switzerland. The degree of autonomy enjoyed by the couples, their level of openness, their sexuation, the socialisation in the family of origin of the husband and wife during their childhood and adolescence, as well as integration in the conjugal network, have a significant impact on the emergence of problems of intimacy.
